What is crew?
Crews are an essential part of any production or event in a theatre. To learn more about each area of crew, please read below.
STAGE CREW - High Commitment
Encompasses set construction, artistic design and application of/on set pieces, designing and making of props, moving set pieces, maintaining set pieces and props, keeping the stage clear of all debris, cleaning and organizing the scene shop, striking the stage after each performance, and more. Most productions require the Stage Crew to begin working on sets about 8 to 12 weeks in advance. Stage Crew works with the production all the way through the final show/event date.
COSTUME CREW - High to Moderate Commitment
Aids in the design of costumes when needed, pulling and assigning costumes to all cast members, organizing and cataloging costumes to each scene, striking costumes after each production, and more. Most productions require Costume Crew to begin pulling/designing costumes about 4-6 weeks in advance.
TECH CREW - Moderate to Low Commitment
Encompasses sound and light design, operating the light or soundboard, operating spotlights, running music and sound effects, helping to maintain all technical equipment, and so on. Most productions require Tech Crew to begin 2 to 4 weeks prior to opening night.
HAIR & MAKEUP CREW - Low Commitment
Aids in the design of makeup and hair for all cast members, working directly with the director, and striking the green room after performances. Most productions require Hair & Makeup Crew to begin 2 weeks prior to opening night.
