Chilton High School Drama Presents:

"Shrek the Musical"

November 6, 2014 @ 7pm
November 7, 2014 @ 7pm
November 8, 2014 @ 7pm

Based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation film, Shrek The Musical is a TONY Award-winning fairy tale adventure featuring all new songs from Jeanine Tesori (Thoroughly Modern Millie, Caroline or Change) and a sidesplitting book by David Lindsay-Abaire. Shrek brings all the beloved characters you know from the film to life on stage, and proves there's more to the story than meets the ears.

"Once upon a time, there was a little ogre named Shrek…” And thus begins the tale of an unlikely hero who finds himself on a life-changing journey alongside a wisecracking Donkey and a feisty princess who resists her rescue. Throw in a short tempered bad guy, a cookie with an attitude, and over a dozen other fairy tale misfits, and you’ve got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero. Luckily, there's one on hand...and his name is Shrek.

Shrek presents a treasure trove of creative opportunities including costumes, sets, puppets (there is a fire-breathing dragon after all), and more! Irreverently fun for the whole family,
Shrek proves that beauty is truly in the eye of the ogre.

A Night At The Opry

BENEFIT CONCERT

Featuring:
The Burie Family           &                 Red Star Express

Ranging in age from 13 to 18, The Burie Family is quickly making a name for itself in southeastern Wisconsin, garnering a 2010 WAMI Bluegrass Band of the Year nomination. A crowd favorite at the KSMU Youth in Bluegrass competition for the past two years at Silver Dollar City in Branson, MO, this young band plays well beyond its years. Singing together from the time they could talk, the siblings have mastered the close harmonies often associated with family groups. The Burie Family's performances are driven by their love of the bluegrass genre and their desire to share the gospel. Equally at home ministering to a few or playing to a crowd of hundreds, the group sees each musical experience as an opportunity to glorify God with the gifts He has blessed them with.

Red Star Express is known throughout Eastern Wisconsin for its lively performances, fast paced bluegrass, and inspirational Gospel songs and great fun on the stage. Tightly knit harmonies and precision bluegrass solos weave a style that is distinct to this band from Newton, WI. A few years back, we coined the phrase "Newtongrass" to explain our brand of bluegrass to our listening audiences. We honor the roots of American bluegrass music, learned from the likes of Bill Monroe, the Dillards, the Stanley Brothers and others like them. Being comprised of mostly Wisconsin natives, we realize that it's pretty hard for us to copy exactly this style of music that is so entrenched in the culture of the southern US.
